How Mio collects, uses, and protects your information.
Novikov German Oleg, IE (DUNS: 933896802), located at Sayat Nova 19/1, Yerevan, Armenia ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Mio mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App.
By using Mio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account Information: When you sign in via Apple Sign In, we receive your name and email address (or a private relay email if you choose to hide your email). We also store a stable device identifier for account management.
- Child Profile Data: Your child's name (or nickname), date of birth, and gender. This data is provided voluntarily by you to enable tracking features.
- Tracking Data: Sleep logs (including Live Activity data), feeding records (breastfeeding sessions, bottle, solids), diaper logs, growth measurements (weight, height, head circumference), milestones, notes, and reminders you create.
- AI Chat Data: Text messages and photos you send to the AI Assistant feature. You may also use voice input via Speech Recognition, which is processed on-device by Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer.
- Payment Information: Subscription purchases are processed by Apple via In-App Purchases and managed through RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your credit card or payment details.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Analytics Data: We use Amplitude to collect anonymized usage data such as feature usage frequency, session duration, and app performance metrics. This data is not linked to your child's personal information.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, language settings, and timezone.
- Crash Reports: Anonymous crash logs to improve app stability.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect precise geolocation data.
- We do not access your contacts, photo library, or browsing history.
- We do not use cookies or web tracking within the App.
- We do not integrate with Apple HealthKit.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App's core tracking features
- Generate AI-powered responses to your parenting questions
- Create AI-Cards and personalized insights based on your tracked data (Mio Plus)
- Display Live Activities for active sleep tracking sessions on your Lock Screen
- Send local reminders and smart notifications you configure
- Sync your data across your devices via iCloud (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore)
- Process subscriptions and manage your account
- Analyze anonymized usage patterns to improve the App
- Ensure app security and prevent abuse
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. Ever.
3. Device Permissions
Mio may request the following device permissions. All are optional and you can deny or revoke them at any time in Settings:
- Camera: To capture photos and send them to the AI Assistant for visual analysis — for example, to ask about a rash, a product label, or anything you need help identifying.
- Photo Library: To select photos from your library and send them to the AI Assistant for visual questions.
- Microphone & Speech Recognition: To use voice input when chatting with the AI Assistant. Speech is processed on-device by Apple — audio is not sent to our servers.
- Notifications: To deliver reminders (feeding, sleep, appointments) and smart alerts you configure.
4. AI Assistant & Data Processing
Our AI Assistant feature uses OpenAI's API (GPT-4o) to process your questions and generate responses.
- What is sent: Your message text, attached photos (if any), and relevant context — your child's age, recent tracking summaries, time of day, and your language preference — to provide accurate, personalized answers.
- What is NOT sent: Your real name, email address, full tracking history, device identifiers, or any data that directly identifies you or your child by name (unless you include it in your message).
- Data retention by OpenAI: As per our Data Processing Agreement with OpenAI, data sent through the API is not used to train their models and is retained for a maximum of 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
- AI personalization: You can customize the AI's response style (detailed/brief) and tone (supportive/neutral) in Settings. These preferences are stored locally on your device.
Important: The AI Assistant provides informational guidance based on pediatric guidelines. It is not a medical service and does not replace professional medical advice. In case of emergency, contact your local emergency services.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Cloud storage: Account data and conversation history are stored on Supabase infrastructure (hosted on AWS). Data is transmitted via Supabase Edge Functions with your anonymous device ID.
- Local storage: Tracking data (sleep, feeding, diapers, growth, notes, reminders) is stored locally on your device using UserDefaults and synced via iCloud (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore) to your other Apple devices.
- Encryption: Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256 on Supabase; Apple's device encryption for local data).
- Authentication: Sign In with Apple provides secure, privacy-preserving authentication. Sensitive credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain.
- We conduct regular security reviews of our infrastructure.
6. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only with:

7. Your Rights
For all users:
- Access: Request a copy of your data at any time.
- Correction: Update your information through the App or by contacting us.
- Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data from Settings or by emailing us. Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
- Export: Request a portable copy of your data.
For EU/EEA residents (GDPR):
You have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Legal basis: We process your data based on your consent (tracking data, AI features) and contractual necessity (account management).

8. Children's Privacy
Mio is designed for parents and caregivers — not for use by children. We do not knowingly collect data directly from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). All child-related data is entered and controlled by the parent/caregiver.

9. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Tracking data: Stored locally on your device and in iCloud. Deleted when you remove the App or delete data from Settings.
- AI chat history: Conversation history is stored on Supabase and linked to your anonymous device ID. Deleted with your account.
- Analytics data: Anonymized and retained for up to 24 months.
10. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance.
